Ringa Toi Exhibition 2023

We are incredibly proud of Te Koha Williams-Burling who has been selected by NZQA to take part in the most prestigious Māori Art annual event, the 2023 Ringa Toi Student Exhibition at Te Papa Tongarewa. The opening for this event is Tuesday 12th September, where all participating tauira hope to be there in person for karakia and the unveiling of their Māori art pieces. Doors will open to the public for viewing from 13th – 29th September. Te Koha has 3 Whakairo on display, they will be in front of Cliff Whitings carved wharenui. This is an exceptional achievement for Te Koha and it is a great honor to support Te Koha in his journey through Whakairo. If you would like more details please contact me via our kura.

Te Pukenga – Student for the day

20 of our senior students got to the experience a day in the life of a student at Northtec – Te Pukenga.

They had the opportunity to explore industries such as: Construction, Mechanical engineering, Automotive, Electrical, Beauty, Hair dressing, Barbering, Cooking, Business, Architecture and Maori Arts.
Having these experiences open our akonga to career ideas they may not otherwise consider, particularly important at this time of year to spark conversations about planning for the future.

Student First Aid Courses

We turned our Tauira into a triage while our Senior students completed their First Aid Course.

We aim to prepare our akonga for future employment the best we can, by providing courses such as drivers licence, first aid, hearing conservation & manual handling, hazard and risk management, occupational health and safety, fire extinguisher course and more.

Congratulations to all our students who have completed these courses and are building an impressive CV.

Victoria University and Massey University Wellington Open Day

On August 25th, we were fortunate enough to attend the Victoria University of Wellington & Massey University open day. We were able to gather information and insight of the courses that are offered at the University and explore the unique spaces. We were able to go on a tour of the university campuses, facilities, lecture halls and the halls of residence both universities had to offer. We were also able to find out about the clubs and societies on campus and talk to, gain advice and tips from some of the staff, present and past students of the Universities. Overall it was a great opportunity to learn more about course options, scholarships, accommodation, other services and also explore the city of Wellington.
