Girls in Infrastructure Event

Today 4 of our students attended the girls in infrastructure event. We spent the day playing with machinery and networking with industry professionals. We then had a very cool opportunity to visit Culham Engineering and the Winstones Quarry site.

It was great to see woman empowering woman, by sharing their experiences in industries our girls otherwise may not have considered as possible career pathways. We came home with a mind full of inspiration and our bags full of goodies.

Senior Mixed Volleyball

Our senior students got the opportunity to take part in a Volleyball Festival tournament that took place over two days at McKay Stadium. Three awesome teams with great personalities and hunger going into their mixed volleyball tournament. They rallied around each other supporting each other’s games and staying connected throughout the day.

It was so good to see our students back out playing sports. They all showed awesome teamwork and sportsmanship towards each other and their fellow competitors from the other surrounding kuras.

Big thank you to Matua Sonny, Whaea Simone and Daisy for going along and supporting our tamariki.

Waikato University Open Day

Five of our Year 13 students attended the Waikato University open day on Friday 26th May.

They were able to enjoy the stunning University and explore the many opportunities available to them.

Huge mihi to Whaea Beth for supporting our students down there.

Guest Speaker

This week we had the pleasure of hosting Mike Paroa an ex Tikipunga High student turned successful artist.

He talked to the students about his life and how it got him to where he is today.

He is such an inspiring, talented, humble man.

Check him out on Facebook @SOMg and Sketchy Fulla.
