On the 23 April, was the first time in three years that Tikipunga High School had been represented at the Shakespeare Competition, with our last win back in 2007. We preformed our own interpretation of Macbeth, with our own Maori twist. Last night was also the first time for the majority of our Drama Class, to preform drama on a stage. It took our Drama class around a term to pull together the piece, with limited budget and with a mixed senior class from year 11 to year 13.
The competition was very hard but in the end, we took out the trophy. Later in June, will be travelling to Wellington to represent Tikipunga High School in the Regional Shakespeare Competition.
I am proud of my Drama class and all who were involved in the competition including all the other amazing talent from the other 11 Northland schools who we competed against. I’d like to give thanks to all who participated and made it an amazing night. I’d also like to give thanks to all the students from our Drama class. And last, but definitely not least, I’d like to thank Matua Mitch Tawhi Thomas, our teacher and our friend, without whose help we would not have won.
