Te Putahitanga Values Kayak Trip

Mr Mills, Jimmy, G-man and Theresa left Tiki, bound for a kayaking adventure on the Tutukaka coast.  After a lesson in safety and equipment use, we set off around the point towards the marina.  Unfortunately our passage was blocked by floating defences, so an advance party had to board the pontoon and rid it of pirates.

After a bloodless battle, which ended with many of our crew in the water,  we carried on over to Marina Beach for lunch.  Students had a ride in the boat and sea biscuit, before we headed back to Kowharewa Bay.  After reloading kayaks, we had a shared kai of hot chips in Ngunguru on the way home.

For many of the students, this was a new skill.  All had a good attempt at it and a great day was had by all.  They represented our kura well at all times.  Huge thanks to Jimmy, Mr. G and Theresa for their constant supportive care and supervision of our students, thus enabling this opportunity.
