As part of Achievement Standard 91504 we have to plan outdoor activities and identify the risks associated with them. We planned and completed the risk analysis forms for a day trip down the Ngunguru river, from Scow Landing out to the estuary.
We were assisted by Magic Mike Easterbrook and Dennis Langman from the Ngunguru Fire Brigade relocated the van and trailer for us. The weather was marginal, with rain and wind forecast for later in the day. We had a reasonably calm run down the river, till the wind got up in the last 20 minutes. We went back to Mr Mills for hot showers, food and to do the paperwork. It was a challenge to pull off a mid- winter water activity, but a great time was had by all.
