Principal’s Welcome

Tena koutou, nga matua, nga whanaunga, nga kaitautoko,

Me nga hoa o te kura.

It is with great pride that I welcome you to our school. We are a place of learning that values academic success. Our priority is for all students to find success as learners. This is supported by excellent opportunities in sport, culture and the arts. This ensures that every student has the opportunity to achieve all they are capable of during their time at Tikipunga High School.

We believe that by providing a range of opportunities for our students, inside and outside of the classroom, we will help them discover their passion and fulfil their potential.

Our school’s motto is “tukua o punga” – cast your nets, which encapsulates the key purpose of schooling – to enable students to cast their nets so that they can be successful learners, reach their personal potential and be purposeful, productive and caring members of society.

I strongly believe education is a team sport. Tikipunga High School values and welcomes whanau as partners in the education of our learners. It is important we do not operate in isolation of our community. Strength lies in our working together and creating educational partnerships that will encourage and empower our students to achieve at the highest levels.

When our students leave, we want them to look back at their time at Tikipunga High School with fondness and remember the great experiences they have had and treasure the opportunities that were offered.

Tikipunga High School is a place of learning, where student opportunities and the aspirations of whanau can be realised. We believe strongly that the cultural identity of every student is of vital importance and our vision, values and philosophy outline our commitment to each student’s personal development.

The Whanau system is the basis of our pastoral support for our learners and encourages and establishes a sense of belonging.

We welcome your support.

Ko te amorangi ki mua, ko te hapai o ki muri.
