Senior Leadership Camp

26 of our senior students attended a leadership camp at Manaia on the 28th and 29th January 2020.  The camp provided students with the opportunity to reconnect before returning to

school.  It also provided peer support training allowing students  to explore a range of activities which they could bring back to school to help build connections in their whanau classes. This was the first opportunity for our head students Te Arani and Sean to step into leadership roles.  As Joby said “if you sleep under the maunga you should know the maunga” and “walking the talk” he led the group to the top of Manaia on a journey to uncover and understand stories from the past.  Anne-Maree from Service Industry Training organization (Service IQ), was our keynote speaker for the evening.  She talked about the service industry (hospitality, retail, tourism), what potential employers are looking for in staff and what opportunities may be available. She also talked about the Gateway programme we run in school and how they support that with their industry connections and training programmes.  By Mrs Rowse
